Provided that your wig is used a nd stored sensibly, a small
amount of care will help to keep it looking good for longer.
Look After Your Wig
- Never shake your wig, as this will cause
the curls/ringlets to become tangled.
- When not in use, carefully place your wig
in a suitable large hairnet and store in a close fitting covered container.
- Always handle your wig carefully and gently.
- Apply wig shortly before each use and/or
wear with a hairnet covering the wig for as long as possible, up until
the time for dancing in competition/exhibition.
- Remove wig promptly after use and avoid pre-use
practice sessions whilst wearing an un-netted wig.
- After use, gently tidy your wig with the
finger tips to split any curls that have joined, to remove any tangles
and to tidy any curls that have dropped out of place.
- After use, the wig and inside of the cap
may be freshened with proprietary wig products or sprayed lightly with
Febreze (fabric freshener).
- After use and freshening, carefully hang
your wig in a dry, well ventilated area to dry and "air" out,
before storing.
- Never brush your wig.
- Keep away from children when not in use and
do not allow children to play with the wig.
- This style of wig should only be washed or
re-curled by someone who is sure that they have the necessary skills
and materials to successfully complete the task.
- When selecting dress designs be aware that
sequins, Velcro and other decorations within the area of the wig bounce,
may catch and tangle curls whilst in use.
- Always follow product manufacturers instructions
when using wig fresheners, conditioners and other preparations. It is
advisable to fully test any freshener, conditioner or other preparation
on a small inconspicuous area, before using upon entire wig.
